ABP Southampton Marathon’s lead local Charity

We are delighted to join ABP Southampton Marathon as the lead local charity for their 2023 event

If you are looking for a new challenge to tackle in 2023 then the ABP Southampton Marathon on 23 April is for you!

The ABP Southampton Marathon offers a variety of distances to participants including Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K, and the recent addition of the 5K.

The routes take in the wonderful sights of Southampton from Bargate to views from the Itchen Bridge, whilst supporting Southampton Hospitals Charity.

Ray Southam, Public Fundraising Manager, says: “Your local hospital is at the very forefront of medical care and research. By running ABP Southampton Marathon for Southampton Hospitals Charity, you can keep it there.

We work hand in hand with University Hospital Southampton to raise the additional funds needed by the hospital to stay at the very forefront of modern medical care. That might mean providing state of the art machinery and cutting-edge equipment. Funding vital drugs tests and research projects to improve treatments. Or kitting out new facilities and rehabilitation units to help patients get better, quicker.

Whether you are a frequent runner or have just begun your running journey, every runner is welcome to run us. By supporting Southampton Hospitals Charity, you’re making sure your local hospital continues to lead the way in providing the very best possible care for patients and their families.”

We are keen to promote how the support of previous runners have helped to transform the hospital.

Catherine, previous runner at the ABP Southampton Marathon

“I ran for Southampton Hospitals Charity last year. In 2017 I lost my dad to cancer however the staff at the hospital were outstanding in looking after him and supporting my family afterwards. It’s a really special Charity and I wanted to raise money so that they can help support other people in the future.”

Christina, previous runner at the ABP Southampton Marathon

“I ran for the Eye Unit at Southampton Hospital.

As a member of staff, Southampton Hospitals Charity means a lot to me as they do an awful lot of work to support people who live with sight loss.”
