Heart Health

Our cardiovascular and thoracic service at University Hospital Southampton diagnoses and treats conditions affecting organs inside the chest (the thorax), mainly the lungs and heart, and the major blood vessels that affect circulation.

Our cardiac centre includes cutting edge catheter labs, a specialist cardiac intensive care unit and a dedicated cardiac MRI scanner.

Services include:

Our hospitals also treat blood disorders with a dedicated haematology centre, and Southampton’s Piam Brown unit is the regional paediatric oncology and haematology centre for the central south coast.

How Charity support has impacted the hospital

  • Specialist training for staff.
  • LED skylights and artwork in the new D3 ward.
  • TVs and radios to help entertain patients.
  • Artwork across the cardiac wards, and a donation tree to thank donors for their support.
